Pictures from the Kruger National Park

Annelize and I drove from Cape Town to the Kruger National Park, a journey of more than 2.000 kilometers. We spent four wonderful days there, staying at a camp inside the park called Lower Sabie.

A statue of Paul Kruger

The statue of Paul Kruger, the founder of the park, greets you at the Paul Kruger Gate. The entrance to the park, one of several, is 150 meters away.

A view of the park.

A nice view of the park, right inside the gate. Can you spot the elephant too?

Three baboons.

The baboons were everywhere! They even climbed the car on several occasions, so the windows had to be mostly closed inside the park.

Buffaloes eating.

The first of the big five we saw were the buffaloes. Just inside the park we came across these, standing still two meters away from the road.

Warthogs on the road.

None of the animals in the park seemed to mind the cars, and these warthogs were no exception.

Zebras crossing the road.

These zebras were not in a hurry to cross the road anytime soon :-)

A big fat Kudu!

The biggest of the bucks in the park was the Kudu.

A lazy giraff looks at us.

This giraff was studying us as closely as we were studying it!

A pissed off elephant!

This old guy didn't like us standing in his way when we wanted to go to the wateringhole, so he decided to chase all the cars away! Luckily nobody got hurt!
